How refreshing it is to be able to laugh at our terribly serious ‘post truth’ era and realise that actually the whole debate about truth and alternative realities has been going on for eons and will doubtless still be going on eons hence.Timothy James Curry (born 19 April 1946) is an English actor and singer. One of the things I enjoy about the text is that it remains so relevant. Journalism was obviously a world Sir Terry knew and he takes no prisoners in this satirical ripping yarn about news, newspapers, consumers and writers, based in Ankh-Morpork. Peter Serafinowicz as Death is also great in cameo - he and Mr Tulip have a lovely scene at the end. I particularly enjoyed Mr Tulip, Vimes, Lord de Worde and Gaspode (I may not have the spelling right as I haven’t physically read this book for many years), while the central interaction between William and Sacharissa is a delight. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s the same person narrating the different voices they’re so individual. Matthew Baynton has a marvellous range and creates not just voices but unique characters right the way through for virtually every part from main to extra. This is one of the best performances in this new set of Terry Pratchett audio books, and one of Sir Terry’s most solid texts - the combination is wonderful. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this. The first book in the Discworld series- The Colour of Magic-was published in 1983. The Discworld novels can be read in any order but The Truth is a standalone. And a dangerous criminal organisation will do anything to control the story.
